Microphone permission
The tuner needs microphone access. If you tapped “Don’t allow”, the app shows a Settings button on the tuner. You can also enable it manually:
- iPhone / iPad: Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone → turn on Guitalele Tuner & Chords.
- Android: Settings → Apps → Guitalele Tuner & Chords → Permissions → Microphone → Allow only while using the app.
Troubleshooting the tuner
Nothing happens when I play
- Check that the microphone permission is allowed and the status isn’t “MIC OFF”.
- Pluck one open string and let it ring. Strumming several strings is not detected.
- Hold the phone near the sound hole and tune in a quiet room.
- Close other apps that might be using the microphone, such as calls or recorders.
It shows the wrong string or note
- Make sure the right tuning is selected: Guitalele (A D G C E A) or Guitar (E A D G B E).
- Turn off Auto mode and tap the string badge you want to tune to lock onto it.
The reading jumps around
Let the note ring and avoid touching other strings. Background noise and a very quiet pluck both make readings less stable.
The app’s text looks different offline
Fonts are downloaded when online; offline a system font is shown. Tuning is unaffected.
Before you write to us
- Check microphone permission (above) and that the status is not “MIC OFF”.
- Pluck one open string in a quiet room, close to the phone.
- Update the app and your phone’s operating system, then restart the app.
What to include in your message
- Phone model and Android or iOS version
- App version (Profile → About this app)
- What you were doing, what you expected and what happened
- Please don’t send recordings or personal details — the app doesn’t store any, and we don’t need them.
We aim to reply within 3 business days.
